We Have Been Busy...

We continue to raise awareness on issues of immigration, anti-smuggling, human trafficking and changes in legislation that have an impact on Nigerians through outreach to Churches, Mosques and, Community Leaders.

Since 2009 to date, we have taken on the responsibility of raising warns on Assisted Voluntary Returns (AVR) across the UK working closely with CFO, Choices and UK immigration. This is a scheme which enables illegal migrants in the UK to return to their home country in dignity and respect, without being criminalised and some financial assistance is provided for the individual to settle.

ABLE was invited to participate in the Nigerian Police High Command Retreat in Abuja. In the same year we were invited to the first Nigerian internal security summit hosted by the ministry of Interior where some of our recommendations were to be taken forward.

We organised a symposium for Law Enforcement, Engaging the Nigerian community that was facilitated by His Excellency Dr Dalhatu Sari Tafida (OFRCFR) and attended by the heads of Nigerian and British government.

We facilitated an interactive session between Nigerians in the Diaspora and the Minister of Police Affairs supported by the newly appointed IGP. It was an opportunity to explore how we could support NFP and give our views on how NFP could improve.

ABLE initiated and facilitated the first Home Office consultation process where the Nigerian community’s views were taken into consideration for policy formulation.
